Set design for Intuitons Experimental Theatre Group, 2023
"The Glass Menagerie," set in 1937 amidst the Great Depression, delves into a family's tumultuous dynamics and their individual struggles with shattered dreams, illusions, and the desperate pursuit of escapism. My set design aimed to evoke the play's themes of memory and imagination. I combined features characteristic to the time period, such as the furniture and the wall paper design, with eccentric, scattered, and obscured elements. This design symbolizes the characters' fractured recollections and their longing for an idealized past. Utilizing partial structures and ethereal visuals, the design sought to immerse the audience in a world where reality intertwines with longing and vulnerability, echoing the play's poignant themes.
